Weekend in Richmond

I was somewhat spontaneous this past weekend - totally unlike me - and drove down to Richmond to see my friend Kara. We had a nice relaxing time and I enjoyed exploring her historic neighborhood.

This is her apartment building. Isn't it totally adorable?

I just loved the old Southern architecture of the houses; I wish I knew more about their history.

Not surprisingly, there were Confederate monuments all over the place.

We visited the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, which was conveniently located across the street from Kara's apartment.

There was some pretty cool stuff in there. One of my favorite galleries was the English sporting collection. Horseys!

A candid shot of Kara being pensive.

We went to a restaurant called Comfort for dinner. I had cheese grits and banana pudding (among other things). It was delicious.

Another "gritty" shot...

I'm sure there will be many more trips to Richmond in the future. I think Kara's trying to lure me there under the pretense of visiting historic sites.
