More springtime fun

Today was a great day in our nation's capital. I watched as the Nationals handily beat the San Diego Padres under a radiant blue sky.

I took Flat Stanley with me. (Hi Alex! He'll be back soon.)

The game finished so quickly that I decided to take advantage of the nice weather, and I headed over to the Capitol to stroll the grounds.

The arrival of spring

It appears we have FINALLY turned the corner here in DC and have said good riddance to winter! We've had pleasant temperatures and sunshine for the past week - I'm actually wearing shorts today for the first time in at least 6 months. It's hard to believe that we had snow on the ground just a few weeks ago.

One of the rites of spring is the blooming of the famous cherry trees (and the influx of tourists). I went down to the Tidal Basin after work the other day, thinking that the crowds wouldn't be as bad on a weekday. After living here for so long, I should know by now that there really isn't a time it's not crowded when the trees are blooming. Anywho, here are few pics I snapped:

Marine One flew in and circled the Tidal Basin before landing at the White House. I guess the Prez wanted to get a look at the cherry blossoms.

I always find it difficult to admire the scenery while trying to dodge the hordes of people. I guess it's one of those things you have to put up with living in this city.
