Springtime in Washington

I absolutely love springtime in Washington; it's my favorite time of year. There are daffodils and tulips everywhere, the grass becomes lush and green, and of course, the famous cherry blossoms make their appearance. We've been lucky that it's been so warm this winter/spring, which has caused everything to bloom early. These cherry blossom photos were taken a few days ago when it was about 80 degrees. That's right, it's 80 degress. In March.

I like the lighting on this one.

There's a new mascot this year reminding people not to pick the blossoms. Not sure what a beaver has to do with cherry blossoms, but whatever.

I even saw some wildlife in the Potomac. Yay, nature!

Then today Lacey and I went to the Botanic Garden, which was awash with colorful flowers. I only wish that it hadn't been so overcast; a blue sky would've really made these photos pop.

Apparently President Garfield has his own memorial. Who knew?

These next two were part of an orchid exhibit inside the botanic garden.



First Signs of Spring

We've had a fairly mild winter, but that doesn't mean I'm any less excited about the onset of spring. I've noticed the trees are starting to bloom and even some of the flowers are coming out - like my favorite daffodils. That means cherry blossom time (and baseball season) is right around the corner!
