Farewell to the Corcoran

I'm sorry I'm so behind on my postings (to all two of you who are reading). It's been a busy couple months!

The Corcoran Gallery of Art has been Washington's largest private art museum since 1869. Unfortunately, due to ongoing financial troubles, the Corcoran recently had to close its doors. I made one last trip in September to say my goodbyes....

I've always enjoyed spending time inside the marble halls of this beautiful Beaux Arts building.

The collections include many significant American artworks, such as these famous paintings of George Washington.

The Sargeant painting in the background is one of my favorites; my grandmother has a replica of it hanging in her living room.

This sculpture is also one of my favorites. The detail is incredible.

And here's the Dutch room. I like to say that I'm descended from Dutch painters. Sure, they may have been house painters, but still....

So farewell to the Corcoran! Thanks for the memories.
