Yesterday I braved the extreme heat to visit Arlington National Cemetery. I was actually surprised at the number of tourists there, considering how hot it was. And even though I've been there many times, it's always a moving experience.
The grave of JFK and Jackie. Always teeming with tourists.
The gravesite offers a great view of the city, so it's a natural choice for photo ops.
Luckily the cemetery is not lacking for shade.
Changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Always keeping watch.
The mast of USS Maine.
All the sailors that were lost in the sinking of the Maine.
The grave of Pierre Charles L'Enfant overlooks the city he designed.
