Road Trip: Day 2

Before I continue, I need to add something that I left out of the last post. The bed & breakfast had two adorable cocker spaniel puppies! PUPPIES!!! So you know I was in heaven.

Ok, now I can continue. On the Friday of our trip, we walked down to the Hall of Fame bright and early.

The museum is divided up into three floors. On the first floor is the actual Hall of Fame. The second floor has a history of the game. The third floor has exhibits on stadiums, the fan experience, record setters, and the playoffs/World Series. Here's a selection of things I saw:

Old timey gloves. The really early ones didn't have much padding, because wearing protection wasn't considered "manly."

Babe Ruth's bats.

Frank Robinson's jersey.

Sandy Koufax's jersey.

An assortment of Dodgers paraphanelia. I believe that's Tommy Lasorda's jacket.

Each team had its own locker filled with things that represent them. This is the one for the Washington Nationals. Notice how A) There are only about five items here, whereas other teams had about 20 items. And B) The players whose jerseys are in here no longer play for the Nationals.

They had a case with every World Series ring ever made. That's a lot of bling.

The 1988 World Series ring for the L.A. Dodgers.

There's no crying in baseball.

Bull Durham is a great movie. You should see it if you haven't.

I think these seats are from Tiger Stadium, but I can't remember for sure.

There was also an exhibit on baseball in art. These were the two paintings I liked the most:

For some reason I failed to take a picture of the actual Hall of Fame. But here's a memorial to those Hall of Famers who served in the military during wartime:

And that's all for the Hall of Fame and Museum! More to come on the rest of the trip....
