Road Trip: Day 1

Laurel and I headed up to Cooperstown, New York this past holiday weekend, mainly to visit the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. We had a terrific time. Cooperstown is a cute little village of about 500 people. We kept seeing the same people everywhere we went!

We started our 7-hour drive on Thursday morning. (I think it took more time getting out of DC than driving through all of Maryland.) We first stopped in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania (a.k.a. Amish country). And it was just lovely.

The Amish don't like having their picture taken, but I figured it was safe to snap a picture of a buggy while inside the car. And we saw a ton of them! We ate lunch at a local market/lunch counter, and while we were there, two cute little Amish boys came in. I wanted to take their picture so bad!
While driving through Pennsylvania, we got behind this truck that had a rather nice message:

Sunset over Scranton. (Actually, I'm not sure if this was Scranton, but it was somewhere around there.)

We finally arrived at our destination around 7:30. We stayed at the Cooperstown Bed & Breakfast, which was absolutely wonderful. If you ever visit Cooperstown, I highly recommend staying at the Cooperstown B&B. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it! The house was quaint and cozy. There are only 5 or 6 rooms, so we got to know everyone that was staying there. The owners were so friendly; it felt like we were staying with family. When we left they piled a plate full of goodies for us to take home. I could go on and on about how great it was, but here are a few pictures.

The flag was up for Veteran's Day (a.k.a. Armistice Day).

There was always food in the kitchen. I feel like I didn't stop eating all weekend!
