Pandamania

I took the day off yesterday to see the National Zoo's newest panda cub, Bei Bei. It was a fairly cold day, so most of the zoo's animals were in hiding. But apparently pandas love the cold, luckily for us.

I believe this is Bao Bao, who was born at the zoo nearly three years ago.

Mama bear and Bei Bei were indoors. The cub was blissfully sleeping. I was happy just to be able to see him, as my previous visit to see cub Bao Bao was unsuccessful.

However, we apparently hit the lottery, according to the zoo volunteer. The cub suddenly became very active, which was quite unusual.

The gathering crowds created an interesting soundtrack, with gasps and giggles at the cub's every movement, along with the constant click of cameras.

Overall, it was a pretty good way to spend a Friday!
