Wine country

A few weeks ago, Aunt Judy and Uncle Roy were out in DC doing the tourist thing. No visit to this area is really complete without a trip to Virginia wine country, so I took them out to a couple wineries. Our first stop was Barrel Oak Winery, which was celebrating their 6th anniversary. It was PACKED, but we had some good wine and good food. (For some reason, I neglected to take any pictures there.)

We then drove on to Aspen Dale Winery, which had a completely different atmosphere. It was less crowded, and more quiet and serene. The winery sits on a horse farm and the tasting room is in a converted barn. It was a beautiful setting, especially for a horse lover like myself.

A nice spot to enjoy a glass of wine.

They have this cute little miniature horse...

I thought he was coming over to say hi, but apparently he just wanted to scratch himself on the fence.

This is the only picture with me in it. I don't know why I didn't take a picture with Judy and Roy...

It was a lovely day with enjoyable company, and I think I may have converted a few more Californians to Virginia wine.
