Operation Zoo Babies

The National Zoo has recently been blessed with an explosion of baby animals: a new panda cub, new tiger cubs, and new lion cubs, among others. A few weeks ago, I trekked out to the zoo to see the new additions, but mainly in hopes of seeing little Bao Bao, the panda cub. Sadly, the little cub wouldn't cooperate and she refused to come out of her den to greet the public. I did get some pictures of her parents though:

Apparently there was something in the other room that really interested her.

I also stopped by the Great Cats enclosure to see the tiger cubs, although they are starting to get rather big.

And next door, the lion was making all kinds of noise. There's nothing quite so terrifying as hearing a lion roar; I was extremely grateful for the barrier between us.

Last but not least, I visited the new(ish) Elephant House. These two were so cute together; they were obviously close buddies. They were being very affectionate and kept swaying together as if they were dancing.

Well, I guess I'll have to make another visit sometime if I want to see little Bao Bao. Until then, I'll have to satisfy myself with the panda cam
