Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial

This morning I visited the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial, which was officially dedicated last month. Its location on the Tidal Basin is beautiful and serene. Even though it had some controversy (as all memorials do), I thought it was tastefully done; the selection of quotations was moving and inspiring, although one was not entirely accurate.

I remember reading in the Post that the sculptor carved MLK's face from memory. Pretty amazing.

And here are a few other pictures I took while walking around the Tidal Basin...

A view of Memorial Bridge and Rosslyn on the banks of the Potomac.

The holly is in bloom already...'tis the season!
