DC gets a bad rap, and most people don't realize how safe the city really is. Crime has gone down tremendously in the past two decades. And besides, it's not like I'm walking around Southeast by myself at 3 in the morning (SE is roughly the equivalent of LA's South Central). So just take a deep breath, people, and relax. It's not as bad as you think it is.
And look how pretty!

I said *roughly* the equivalent. My point is that SE is the worst neighborhood in DC, and South Central was just the first thing that popped into my head. Clearly it's not that bad, though.
